Birkbeck welcomes new Fellows
Distinguished contributions to College life recognised
Birkbeck welcomes seven new Fellows to the College this autumn. Fellows are elected annually by the College Governors and recognise distinguished individuals who have either given outstanding service to the College or who have attained special distinction in their fields or in connection with Birkbeck.
Birkbeck’s 2012 Fellows are drawn from academia, business, political and public life. They are:
- Baroness Brinton, Liberal Democrat peer and education campaigner
- Professor Steve Connor, former College Orator and newly appointed Grace 2 Professor of English, Cambridge University
- Dr Naim Dangoor CBE, philanthropist and businessman
- Professor Sir Peter Hall, Bartlett Professor of Planning & Regeneration, UCL
- Professor Michael Hunter, Emeritus Professor of History, Birkbeck
- Garth Pollard, retiring Deputy Chair of Governors, Birkbeck
- Professor Mary Wood (pictured, right), formerly head of Birkbeck’s Department of Media and Cultural Studies
