Record attendance for Birkbeck Futures 2019 Careers Fair
Students and graduates across all departments joined the event to take part in careers workshops, and build their networks with employers and each other.
Thousands of Birkbeck students and graduates joined Birkbeck’s Annual Careers Fair at Senate House last weekend, to meet over 50 employers from a range of industries and got involved in a variety of activities throughout the day.
Exhibitors included KPMG, Ofwat, Harvey Nichols, Bloomsbury Publishing, Financial Conduct Authority, The Chartered Governance Institute and many more, all promoting their opportunities and connecting with our diverse student population.
Taking place in tandem with Orientation and the Students’ Union Welcome Fair, this year’s Careers Fair was the biggest and most successful yet, attracting more students and employers than any other year. The Resourcing Team at the Financial Conduct Authority said: “It was great to be involved in this event. We were really impressed with the calibre of potential candidates, different levels of work experience, academic qualifications and flexibility around working.”
Students and graduates across all departments attended the events, building their networks with employers and each other. Lukasz Kulesza, MSc Environment and Sustainability student said: “I am really impressed by the size of this year’s Careers Fair. I met with many employers and engaged with a few that I found really interesting!”
Alongside the exhibitor halls, a series of employer-led seminar sessions took place from The European Medical Writers Association, Bloomsbury Publishing, Sheridan’s, Clustermarket and Ethical Angel, taking attendees through a range of workshops and inspiring discussions. Alex Fahie, CEO at Ethical Angel said: “The team and I had a great time; we ended up with over 160 expressions of interest, either for jobs for us or for their existing employer to use Ethical Angel. Amazing!”
Plans are already underway for the 2020 Careers Fair and Jenna Davies, Careers and Enterprise Manager at Birkbeck said: “This was a huge team effort and it is credit to everyone at Birkbeck Futures that the hard work paid off so well. The feedback from both students and employers has been incredible and we’re excited to look ahead to the next one.”
