Bonnart Trust Master's studentships
The Bonnart Trust offers two studentships each year to support part-time master’s students whose work involves them in the major themes of concern to the Trust: diversity, minorities and social justice.
The studentships are only available for those studying relevant master's programmes (see eligibility below).
Applications for 2024/25 entry are now closed. Further updates on the availability of this award for the 2025/26 academic year will be confirmed in May/June 2025.
About the funder
- The purpose of the Bonnart Trust is to 'establish and maintain scholarships at universities in the United Kingdom for research at the postgraduate level into the nature of racial, religious and cultural intolerance with a view to finding a means to combat it.'
- In addition to the master's studentships, the Trust funds the Bonnart Trust PhD Scholarship scheme for research students.
- Bonnart Trust master’s students will join a network of Bonnart scholars. The Trust not only supports its scholars financially, but also through networking, sponsoring and mentoring activities and encourages them to engage with a wide range of audiences inside as well as outside academia. Bonnart master’s students are expected to play a part in these wider activities.
Value of award
- The studentships cover the cost of home fees for both years of a part-time master’s course. Funding in the second year depends on satisfactory progress in the first year.
- Students may also be eligible for additional funding to support research for their dissertation and/or their wider development.
- On completion of their master’s degree, students are required to prepare a short summary of their dissertation which is suitable for publication on the Bonnart Trust website and/or a reflection on their experience as a master’s student and how this links to their career aspirations.
