Birkbeck bursaries for current students

Thanks to the generosity of Birkbeck donors, we offer a range of bursaries designed to offer financial support for our students. Most of them are available to current students only.

Bonnart Trust Master's studentships

Find out about Bonnart Trust studentships for part-time master’s students who work in the areas of social cohesion, conflict resolution and racial, ethnic and religious justice.

School of Natural Sciences postgraduate bursary

The School of Natural Sciences offers a bursary worth £5,000 to one Home Fees student studying for one of the school's master's degrees.

MA Medical Humanities studentship

Birkbeck is offering a fully-funded studentship for the MA Medical Humanities: Bodies, Cultures and Ideas.

MRes Philosophy Bursary

The School of Historical Studies will award a limited number of bursaries to students embarking on the MRes in Philosophy.

Kenway Legacy Scholarship

Students accepted onto certain MSc and MA programmes delivered by the School of Psychological Sciences will be eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Sasakawa Japanese Studies Postgraduate Studentship

We offer a number of bursaries and studentships to master's students who are applying to study a postgraduate degree in Birkbeck's School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication.

University-WIDE FUNDING

Government postgraduate loans

Government loans are available for postgraduate studies, allowing you to borrow up to £12,471 to put towards the cost of your master's degree (MA, MSc, LLM, MRes).

Birkbeck Access to Postgraduate Study Scholarship

This offers non-repayable bursaries towards tuition fees of £3000 for full-time taught postgraduate courses and £1500 per year (for a maximum of two years) for part-time taught postgraduate courses.

Fee reduction scheme

Through this fee reduction scheme, three students with either discretionary leave to remain, LLR or Asylum seeker status, and otherwise required to pay overseas fee rates, will be eligible to pay the ‘Home’ rate of tuition fees at Birkbeck.

Funding for international students

We offer a range of funding and scholarships for international students.

Aziz Foundation support for British Muslims

The Aziz Foundation offer full tuition fee scholarships to support British Muslims to study at Master’s level.

Birkbeck help with childcare costs

Accommodation scholarships

A small number of accommodation scholarships are available to full-time students at Birkbeck.

Birkbeck Hardship Fund for current students

The Birkbeck Hardship Fund can provide support towards unexpected costs that have been incurred as a result of an emergency or unforeseen change in your personal situation.
