Obituary: Dr Rachelle Dyanne Bascara

The Department of Philosophy was dismayed to learn of the untimely passing earlier this month (March 2021) of our former student, Dr Rachelle Dyanne Bascara.

Rachelle first joined the Department in 2011 on our MPhilStud programme, before carrying on to the PhD in 2013. Her doctoral thesis, ’Towards a Unified Theory of Oppression’, was passed in 2020.  

Rachelle was an active member of our philosophical community for many years and had many friends here. She will be sorely missed.
