Overview

Our Introduction to Latin I short course is ideal for complete beginners. It offers you expert, tailored guidance in understanding the basic principles of Classical Latin. This short course will provide you with a firm basis in the grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary of the language.

Teaching is varied and interactive, including grammar guidance and practice in reading Latin in each class. The focus will be on enabling you to understand the inner workings of the language and providing you with the necessary tools to read and translate simple passages. There will be new grammar points to be learned every week, as well as translation practice and simple English into Latin composition.

No prior knowledge of the language is necessary for this course. Introduction to Latin I is the first of two courses, so you can follow it with Introduction to Latin II. Both courses can also be taken separately, depending on your proficiency.

Please note: each weekly session will be two hours in length and run from 6pm to 8pm.

This course is non-credit bearing, so carries no credit points.
