Internship module
Overview
- Credit value: 15 credits at Level 5

- Assessment: a 2000-word learning review (80%) and 10-minute oral examination (20%)
Module description
In the summer break between Years 1 and 2, you will complete an internship in a restaurant or a food business organisation. This provides you with the opportunity to explore and document your own professional practice in a structured and systematic way, and facilitates your development as an independent learner.

Learning objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- recognise the importance of experiential learning in successful professional practice
- identify relevant learning through the analysis of your practice in an unstructured context (the workplace)
- select relevant academic models and apply them to the workplace
- identify elements of learning gained from a work placement and produce a learning review which adequately documents these.
