Overview
- Credit value: 60 credits at Level 7

- Assessment: a 2000-3000-word project proposal (20%) and 10,000-word project report (80%)
Module description
You will be required to undertake an individual project, under the supervision of a staff member. In this project, you will be able to demonstrate your skills in organising and completing a task that goes beyond a typical coursework assignment.
Indicative syllabus
Supported by your supervisor, you will complete the main part of this module independently. A small part of this module is taught, and you will learn how to:
- formulate the objectives/aims of an MSc project
- write a project proposal
- organise and plan the project
- research literature
- write a project report.
Learning objectives
At the end of this module, you will have acquired experience in independently:
- collecting and critically evaluating relevant research and scholarship within the field of study
- selecting and applying techniques and enquiry appropriate to the research problem (or question) addressed in the project
- communicating the above achievements in your project report
- proposing, presenting and critically evaluating a solution to the research problem addressed (or answer the research question yourself). This includes the development and demonstration of a complex software system which goes beyond few lines of code.
