Module description
In this module we offer critical perspectives on issues faced by victims of crime and debates around the nature, extent and scope of victimisation. This is a rapidly growing and innovative area of criminological and criminal justice scholarship exploring the often-neglected complex interface between crime, victimisation, victim policy and the participation of victims within the criminal justice system.
We will explore theories of victimisation, as well as national and international developments in the areas of victim policy and the victim movement. We will also consider the value and impact of raising victims' voices in the criminal justice system and draw on theoretical and empirical analyses to introduce you to conceptual and practical aspects of victimology.
