Natural Sciences Project

- Credit value: 30 credits at Level 6

- Assessment: a 5000-8000-word project report (90%) and 15-minute oral presentation (10%)
Module description
This module is the opportunity for you to develop your research skills in a discipline relating to a selected disciplinary stream within your chosen pathway. In partnership with a supervisor(s) from across the Faculty of Science or from within the School of Social Sciences, you will design a research project and will embark on the required lab, field and/or computer modelling work, as appropriate to the discipline. You will analyse the data you collect/generate and write up the findings in a final report. You will present your findings to staff and fellow students at an oral presentation session.
Learning objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- design an independent research project in your chosen field
- undertake data collection and analysis in your chosen field
- demonstrate skills in scientific writing and report/thesis production in your chosen field and concisely report your research findings to peers by oral presentation.
