Dissertation - Cities/Sustainable Cities

• Assessment: a 12,000-15,000-word dissertation (100%)

This module provides you with the opportunity to undertake an independent research project under the guidance of a supervisor. It will allow you to develop your ideas on a topic of your choice related to your field of study, and to acquire key postgraduate skills including constructing a literature review incorporating critical thinking and appropriate argumentation, engaging with salient resources, reflecting on ethical issues, and training in methods and analysis techniques.

By the end of this module, you will have:

• developed and carried out an independent research project
• formulated a literature review, deploying critical thinking and analysis of key debates in the field
• deployed research methods appropriate to your topic in order to collect primary data and/or texts
• developed a sound argument based on analysis of primary data and/or texts
• presented a well-written and structured dissertation.
