Module description
In this module you will explore a clinical issue at depth from the perspective of either an extended case study, a literature review of an important theory or concept, or a small-scale research study.

- The integration of psychodynamic theories into your own clinical work with couples/individuals
- Evaluating research in counselling and psychotherapy
- A critical examination of research papers
- Understanding qualitative and quantitative research design
- A critical examination of qualitative and quantitative research methods and their use in a psychodynamic clinical setting
- Researching and writing a dissertation
Learning objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- consider and critically reflect upon a broadened range of psychodynamic thought and its relevance to the couple relationship and to working with individuals from a relationship perspective
- understand and evaluate the application of psychodynamic techniques to couple work and to work with individuals from a relationship perspective
- demonstrate integration of theory, clinical practice and research mindedness
- critically evaluate your presentation of clinical work both orally and in written form
- critically evaluate psychodynamic theory of human behaviour and development
- use your skills, knowledge and experience to deal with complex and unpredictable situations that demand innovative professional thinking and action
