Module description
In this module we explore the essential debate, key facts and historical developments involved in modern-day international migration and transnationalism. In the field of international migration, we will address global historical trends; the different trajectories of Europe and the United States; debates on (im)migration motives and policy; and the UK reality. In the field of transnationalism, the focus is on the relation between (im)migration and integration.
Topics addressed include:
- deterritorialisation and citizenship
- assimilation and multiculturalism
- transnationalism in relation to dual or long-distance nationalism.
