Module description
The aim of this module is for you to produce a dissertation or independent research project related to the main aims and learning outcomes of your course. Preparation for your dissertation/research project is provided on other modules and through dedicated workshops taking place at the end of your penultimate year or the beginning of the final year.

- Identifying relevant sources of information
- Reviewing academic literature
- Writing up research
Learning objectives
By the end of this module, you will have:
- identified appropriate social science issues or problems to research
- identified academic and other appropriate literature on a specialist topic
- critically evaluated existing knowledge on a specialist topic
- selected and applied research methods appropriate to your topic
- presented research findings clearly in writing
- worked independently and organised your own time and tasks
- successfully completed a dissertation or independent research project drawing on skills and knowledge acquired on other modules during your course.
