Murray seminar: Low Life in High Society: a group of drawings by Verrocchio
When:
—
Venue:
Birkbeck 43 Gordon Square
No booking required
Dr. Nuttall looks at Verrocchio's startling drawings of dancers performing a renaissance dance known as the moresca. Considering the drawings' relationship to northern imagery and to contemporary Florentine vernacular culture, she brings new insights to these and other depictions of 'low life' subjects.
This is part of our spring series of seminars on medieval and renaissance art, supported by the Bequest established in memory of Professor Peter Murray, the Department's founder. All seminars are held at 5pm at Birkbeck's School of Arts (Room 112, 43, Gordon Sq., London, WC1H OPD), and are followed by a reception. See details of full series here.
