Revolutions in a Warming World: Lessons from Syria
BISR Population, Environment and Resources Working Group
Speaker: Andreas Malm, Lund University
Chair: Alex Colas, Birkbeck, University of London
Will higher temperatures unleash revolutionary chaos? From the corridors of Pentagon to the pages of Science, such fears have grown in recent years. They now have an eminent test case: Syria, where the revolution was preceded by a devastating drought. With a focus on the Middle East and Syria in particular, this talk will discuss some possible configurations of revolution in a warming world and reflect on potential points of intervention.
