Ella McCartney presents To Act, To Know, To Be, a solo exhibition of new works made during a ten-month artist's residency, supported by The Leverhulme Trust, in collaboration with Professor Zhu Hua from the Department of Applied Linguistics at Birkbeck College, University of London. Fuelled by an interest in gesture, process and language, the works have been created in response to current research on 'translanguaging', a new way of understanding language and communication. The multi-modal exhibition will invite the audience to find connections between and amongst the works. All of the materials will be going through a process of transformation or have the potential to change state.
Ella McCartney (b.1985, UK) lives and works in London. She graduated from The Royal Academy Schools in 2011 and Goldsmiths, University of London (2008).
