Food preparation and consumption are necessary aspects of social reproduction. Demand for quick, cheap food to fuel an overworked and underpaid workforce has an impact on the working conditions of those producing the food (such as low wages, lack of health and safety, bullying, lack of breaks, overwork). In this episode we bring together activists and scholars to make connections between the production and consumption of food. Drawing on the experience of workers in a food processing factory and research into food insecurity we will look towards alternative approaches to organising food economies.
