The Legal Practice Conversation series aims to provide students with first-hand insight into how law works in practice – and an opportunity to ask a legal practitioner about careers in law.
At this event, solicitor Anthony Landes will be talking with Professor Daniel Monk about his career as an Intellectual Property solicitor and partner in a leading law firm, working as an in-house lawyer for a large multinational and about the nature of commercial awareness in legal practice.
About the Speaker
Anthony Landes is a lawyer who was previously a partner at the law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse (FFW) specialising in Intellectual Property Law, where he had responsibility for the Information Technology department. In 1996, he moved to Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) where he ran the Legal and Commercial Department in the UK. In 2000 he moved to Deloitte where he became the Risk Partner for Deloitte Consulting across EMEA and sat on the Deloitte Consulting Executive in the UK from June 2000 until his departure from Deloitte in May 2014. On leaving Deloitte, he set up his own Consultancy business which advises Corporates on how best to structure their Quality and Risk Management departments. In addition Anthony Landes is a Trustee of Just for Kids Law and Chair of Trustees of the Wiener Holocaust Library.
This event will be of interest to anybody interested in intellectual property, commercial awareness and legal practice and the differences between working as a solicitor in private practice and as an ‘in-house’ lawyer.
