The coronavirus pandemic has affected every aspect of the spaces we live our lives in, from the most intimate rooms to the city streets to the borders between nations. Join Leslie Topp (based in Oxford), Miloš Kosec (based in Ljubljana) and an international group of participants to engage in structured discussion of pandemic space, and a chance to share your experiences and observations.

Read more about Miloš and Leslie’s research on pandemic spaces in a blogpost here.

Leslie Topp is Professor of Architectural History at Birkbeck and an expert on architecture and social control. She is the author of Freedom and the Cage: Modern Architecture and Psychiatry in Central Europe, 1890-1914 (2017).

Miloš Kosec is Associate Research Fellow in the Department of History of Art. He was awarded his PhD in 2019 with a dissertation entitled 'Passivism: Activism and Passivity in Contemporary Architecture'. He works as a critic, curator, architect and researcher in Ljubljana.

This workshop will draw on the two short videos 'Pandemic spaces: cordons and borders' and 'Pandemic spaces: homes and rooms'. If you have time to watch them in advance of the workshop, that would be ideal.
