Food and Brexit - How it Stands

It’s been over a year since the UK left the EU, and four months since the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement came into effect. In this roundtable, we take stock by asking to what extent predictions about the impact of Brexit on food and food politics have been realised, and how the immediate results of Brexit are likely to develop in the coming months and years. Issues addressed include Brexit’s consequences for food policy and security, effects on the labour market and working practices, the impact on food supply and distribution of the Northern Ireland protocol, the complications posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well the broader ramifications for food politics and culture in the UK and Europe.
