18:00 Artwork Launch
Aikaterini Gegisian occupied herself during lockdown by gardening. The Manipulator Vlog, Episode 3 documents the rural shift in her life and work during the coronavirus crisis, set against the backdrop of her teenage magazine collection, which she rediscovered during the pandemic. In the vlog the artist flicks through issues of The Manipulator (1984-1994), a commercial fashion magazine championing photography, in juxtaposition with amateur videos of her garden activities. The Manipulator Vlog, Episode 3 brings our attention and understanding to time passing, and to how daily life interweaves with larger histories.

18:15 Artwork Launch
Victoria AhrensNoli Mi Tangere is a video collage featuring imagery created by the artist on the English south coast. Ahrens exposes and develops photographic plates on location, before then adding chalk and shale to the printed images. In this way, she brings back a haptic encounter with the geology of the place. In the video the viewer sees Ahrens’ hand touching and scratching the photographic surfaces. Referring to the isolation and the loss of touch during the pandemic, this process marks a desire for both bodily encounters, and the landscapes from which we have been estranged.
