Luuk van Middelaar (Leiden) is a political theorist, historian, former speechwriter for Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, 2010-2015 as well as a leading author on the European Union.
In this event he will present his new book Pandemonium: Saving Europe (Agenda Publishing, 2021) and will engage with a panel of distinguished academics, officials and commentators in a conversation on the EU’s reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic and its implications for the process of European integration more broadly.

Jennifer Rankin is the Brussels correspondent of The Guardian. She has also written for Reuters, The Economist, the Irish Times, the Moscow Times and the EU affairs weekly, European Voice. She began her career in journalism by winning in 2006 the Nico Colchester Journalism Fellowship awarded by the Economist and the Financial Times. Before journalism, Jennifer worked for the UK think-tank, the Institute for Public Policy Research. She is a member of our Jean Monnet Chair’s advisory panel.

He is a political theorist, historian, a leading author on the European Union as well as former adviser to and speechwriter for Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, 2010-2015.
