If you want to make a difference and give back, working for a charity is undeniably a great career choice with many different kinds of roles available to you. Our Industry and Alumni panel speakers will share their experience and advice that will give you a head start in your quest to work in the charity sector.

Speakers include:

Rachael Tew: Clear Voice - Sales and Partnership Manger
Rachael’s role at Clear Voice is the Sales and Partnership Manger, dealing with all of our clients, overseeing and managing contracts, delivering monthly KPI reports, and monitoring customer satisfaction.
Rachael’s previous experience includes working with people from very diverse backgrounds. She has worked at refugee camps in Greece, Migrant Help, and now Clear Voice Interpreting Services. Communicating with a diversity of people comes naturally.

Fulvio Ornato: CAFOD

Fulvio Ornato has worked on CAFOD’s Volunteering team for 11 years. He was born and grew up in in the small town of Bra 4o miles south of Turin in Italy. After completing a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in Rome worked for 18 years as a Missionary in Kenya and Nigeria where he finished a degree in Theology and was ordained priest in the Parish of Mary Help Of Christians in Akure (Nigeria). In Nigeria held numerous responsibilities in support of the local community. In 2007 relocated to the UK and has worked as a Fundraiser and Volunteer manager in various charities. He is presently the chair of Trustees for a small Charity Money 4 You.

Kelly McLoughlin: Thames Reach

Kelly Mcloughlin is the Volunteer programmes manager at Thames Reach, a homelessness Charity. Kelly has worked in the sector for 10 years, starting in a volunteer role and then moving from front line work into management. She will be talking about how you can get into the sector and transferable skills.

 

Germán Bencci: Code your Future - Founder

CodeYourFuture (CYF) is a UK based non-profit organisation that trains some of the most deprived members of society to become web developers and helps them to find work in the tech industry.
CYF students are trained in full-stack web development by volunteers from the tech industry, putting a strong emphasis on collaboration and product development through tech projects.
CYF graduates work in companies like FT, BBC, STV, Ticketmaster and startups like Adzuna, Sensible Object, tlr and WeGotPop.

 

Lucy Kennedy: The National Saturday Club- Chief Executive

Young people around the country are spending Saturday mornings at their local university, college or museum discovering subjects they love. Saturday Clubs are open to 13–16 year olds and free to attend.
Joining the National Saturday Club gives young people is a chance to meet learn new skills, discover talents and find out more about further education, higher education and rewarding careers.

 

Joe Banfield: The Rose Castle Foundation  

The Rose Castle Foundation is a charity helping to lay the foundations for sustainable peace and reconciliation in the world.

Joe is head of marketing and communications at the Rose Castle Foundation, a peacebuilding organisation dedicated to transforming conflict by equipping tomorrow’s leaders with the skills and practise of reconciliation. Before entering the charity sector, he studied History at Durham Uni, where he founded an interfaith network to connect student leaders of different religious traditions in shared learning and action.
