Birkbeck Readers with Helen Carr
Birkbeck Readers invite you to meet with Helen Carr, who was joint editor alongside Suzannah Lipscomb of the highly successful work, What is History, Now? published in 2021 by Weidenfeld and Nicolson.
Seen as an addition to the discussion started by her great-grandfather E.H. Carr with his seminal text, What is History? Helen and Suzannah’s work addresses the evolution of the discipline of history and the relationship between the study of the past and contemporary concerns. In their volume, which bridges both popular and academic audiences with great success, Carr and Lipscomb invite other historians to join their conversation not only about some more orthodox histories but also those until now considered marginalised.
Join us for an on-line discussion between Helen Carr and Dr. Julia Laite on Tuesday 24th May at 6pm followed by a Q & A.
Booking is essential so that we may send you the joining link.
