The Legal Practice Conversation series aims to provide students with first-hand insight into how law works in practice – and an opportunity to ask a legal practitioner about careers in law.

At this event barrister and Deputy High Court Judge Elizabeth Isaacs KC MCIArb will be talking with Professor Daniel Monk about her work in the legal profession. She will also discuss a recent Court of Appeal case she acted in: Re C (Children) (Covid-19: Representation) EWCA Civ 734, which addresses the challenges of remote hearings – a key issue for the legal system. After the conversation there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

About the Speaker: Before qualifying as a barrister, Elizabeth Isaacs was a Child Protection Social Worker. Now a specialist child law silk (KC) she also sits as a Family Division Deputy High Court Judge.  She has an established national reputation for a compassionate, pragmatic and strategic approach, excellent advocacy and forensic preparation in complex public law cases. She was Shortlisted for the Legal 500 Silk of the Year 2019 (Regions) and was the Winner of the Legal 500 UK Silk of the year 2018 (Regions)

She is currently Head of St Ives Chambers – where the expertise of the barristers covers nine key areas: Arbitration, Business & Property, Criminal, Public Law – Children, Private Law – Children, Family (Finance), Housing, Regulatory, and Personal Injury.
