Inheriting the Family: Film Screening and Panel Discussion
Inheriting the Family is an AHRC-funded network that explores the role of emotion in explaining why some objects and stories (and not others) are transmitted across generations and from the private sphere of the family to public spaces like museums and archives. Four short films were made for the project by Lily Ford.
These films explore the emotions and memories that objects embody for the people who have inherited them and, collectively, capture the power of inherited objects in creating personal, family, and national identities. The films will be screened before a panel discussion about inheritance, memory-making and family history practice.
