A launch event for a special issue of Birkbeck School of Arts’ Dandelion Journal on the theme of intersectionality and the arts. Explore an exhibition of alumna and journal contributor Nicole Moore’s artworks, hear from contributors to the journal about their work, and learn more about the journal and how you can get involved with future issues.
Nicole Moore is an author and editor of three anthologies of poetry and personal essays, two of which were funded by an Arts Council England's Grants for the Arts award. Nicole is a writer, published poet and interdisciplinary visual artist, specialising in abstract realism painting with a political narrative. Nicole completed a Culture Diaspora Ethnicity MA at Birkbeck in January 2023.
Naomi Smith is a postgraduate researcher at Birkbeck, and editor of a special edition of Birkbeck School of Arts’ postgraduate journal, Dandelion. Her current research interests include intersectionality and decolonisation, news story selection, and broadcast journalism, particularly in the context of the United States of America. She is a published journalist and freelance writer, and completed an Investigative Reporting MA at Birkbeck in September 2018. Naomi was previously an officer of Birkbeck Students’ Union in 2020 to 2022, and sat on Birkbeck’s Board of Governors in 2021 to 2022.
