Dr Olivia Hamlyn was appointed Lecturer in Law at Birkbeck in September 2019. Prior to joining Birkbeck, Olivia was a Lecturer at the University of Leicester, having completed a PhD at University College London, supported by the Economic and Social Research Council. In 2013, she completed a training contract at Clifford Chance LLP. While at Leicester, Olivia conducted research for the European Parliamentary Research Service on the implementation of EU pesticides regulation for a European Implementation Assessment. In 2019, she co-organised a conference on law and economics, supported by the Independent Social Research Foundation, the Association for Heterodox Economics and Leicester Law School. During her PhD, Olivia worked as a tutor with The Brilliant Club and as a research assistant with the UK Hub for Responsible Research and Innovation, on the European Commission-funded RRI Tools project at UCL’s Department of Science and Technology Studies. She is an active member of the UK Environmental Law Association.
During our Taster Lecture Event, we will provide you with an overview of our Department, our courses and how they are structured, including insights into assessments and exams.
We will also introduce you to how our learning is provided flexibly through face-to-face or online learning modes and provide opportunities for questions and answers at the end.
