Please note that this workshop is for Birkbeck students only

  • Do you struggle to make the links between your ideas clear?
  • Have you received feedback that your argument is unclear or difficult to follow?

In this session, we’ll look at useful language of argument you can use to make your arguments clear to the reader, before looking in more detail at a key grammatical resource for communicating your arguments clearly: linking words and phrases such as ‘however’, ‘likewise’, and ‘as a result’. We’ll look at the different types of connections we might need to make between our ideas, and the language we can use to do this effectively.
