When:

Venue:
Birkbeck 43 Gordon Square
In 1981 Afterimage 10 included a dossier on the exiled Chilean new-wave filmmaker Raul Ruiz, who had escaped Pinochet’s coup to reinvent himself as a virtuoso in French television with mysterious features and eccentric documentaries. The BFI made available a selection of his work, while Ruiz became the darling of international festivals, culminating in his opulent Time Regained at Cannes in 1999. Here by way of re-introduction, Dogs’ Dialogue (1977) and The Hypothesis of the Stolen Painting (1979).
