How Good is News for Democracy? Interactive Workshop

When:
Venue: Birkbeck 43 Gordon Square

How good are our news media for democracy? When you read the news – does that serve democracy? Do journalists think about democracy when they write news stories? The workshop presents my current research project that explores these questions. A brief lecture will explain the project and findings so far.  In the second part, you will become active yourself while experiencing research in action at the same time: In a focus group discussion you will discuss what news media mean for you, how you encounter and use news media in your daily life, and what you would miss without any news. Finally, we will together evaluate the experience of the focus group  discussion and how it contributes to research.

Join Birkbeck researchers Imke Henkel and Tim Markham to dig deeper into these issues.
