Birkbeck Law School academic skills workshop: Basic principles of OSCOLA referencing

When:
Venue: Online

Book your place

This workshop is for Birkbeck law students or Birkbeck students enrolled on a law module. Book your place in My Birkbeck / Events and Workshops (not sure how to do that? Watch this short video guide!). If you use the link above to book, please use your Birkbeck student email address to sign up - thanks!

This session will consider the basic principles of OSCOLA citation, including when and where in your assessment you should add footnotes, how you should refer to different sources in the body of your assignment (such as case law, legislation, books and journal articles), and the basic principles of punctuation in the OSCOLA style.

Please note that this session will not cover the mechanics of writing and formatting specific references for specific sources. For workshops on how to actually write and format the references themselves, try:

·       Citing cases and statutes using OSCOLA

·       Citing journal articles using OSCOLA

·       Citing books and book chapters using OSCOLA
