23 AUGUST 2008 (2013)
Laura Mulvey and Mark Lewis. 22 mins
Working again with Mark Lewis 20 years after their Disgraced Monuments, Laura Mulvey filmed Faysal Abdullah talking about the lives of Iraqi intellectuals of the left, driven into exile by Saddam Hussein, and his brother Kamel’s decision to return in 2003, leading to his death in Baghdad at the hands of unknown assassins on 23 August 2008.
CALUM STORRIE: DRAWING Etc (2023)
Peter Bromley, 1968 Film Group. 60 min.
Peter Bromley filmed Calum Storrie, an architect, artist and exhibition designer with a passion for drawing, over seven months in London and Dundee. Apart from his exhibition design for many venues, ranging from the British Museum, Royal Academy and Museum of London to the Courtauld and GRAD, Storrie’s remarkable drawings range from imaginary architecture to capturing performances and soundscapes, while his collages record the textures of the city. The film features a performance of his one of his graphic music scores at Café Oto. His 2007 book The Delirious Museum is subtitled ‘a journey from the Louvre to Las Vegas’.
