- Do you struggle to write about what you’ve read concisely and in your own words?
- Are you unsure about how to summarise a text effectively?
- Are you worried about plagiarism?
If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then you may benefit from attending this workshop.
An important skill in academic writing is the ability to write about things you have read in your own words, either to pick out the main points (summarise) for your own argument or to communicate a specific point made by a writer (paraphrase) as part of your argument. In this workshop, we’ll consider how to write one-sentence and short-paragraph summaries of texts, so that you can summarise your research effectively in your assignments.
