Visions from the Amazon
examines the intricate relationships between humans and the more-than-human elements of the Amazon Forest—namely, its trees, water, and light. Emerging from doctoral research, this exhibition showcases works by artists from various parts of the Amazon forest in Brazil, representing the artistic practice of diverse communities, including Indigenous peoples, rubber tappers, as well as those living in riverine and urban areas. In the photographs, videos and paintings featured in the show, plant collectivism, the agency of water, and forest light act together as powerful mediums for advocacy and creative expression. The exhibition features the work of Claudia Andujar, Denilson Baniwa, Rosa Gauditano, Nay Jinknss, Luciana Magno, Hélio Melo, Paula Sampaio, and Tayná Satere.
