One in two of us own a pet and their healthcare amounts to a significant and rising cost. Parasiticides are often given routinely to pets to prevent infestations, for example from ticks and fleas.

This workshop will explore the sustainable practice of parasiticide use in our pets, particularly relating to all-year-round treatment and the implications this has for our environment. By assembling veterinarians, social and natural scientists we invite the audience to engage in this important topic.

Questions that will be addressed during the workshop include current level of understanding of the risks and benefits associated with these products, why communities use them on such a large scale, and practical steps towards sustainable use.
