  • Are you a Literature student?
  • Do you find it hard to comment on and evaluate literary texts and sources because you ‘don’t really know what to say’?
  • Do you feel that literary critics and scholars have ‘said it all’ and you ‘don’t know what to add’?
  • Are you unsure about how to show your ‘voice’ when commenting on literary sources?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you may find this workshop helpful. In this session, we will explore what it means to enter the conversation in our academic writing. We will consider different approaches to adding our unique perspective to our analyses of literary texts; for instance, through considering conflict, tensions, and key themes. We will reflect on the issue of ‘voice’ in academic writing and ways to demonstrate this. You will leave with a better understanding of how to confidently take your place in the academic conversation.
