We are pleased to invite submissions for our upcoming 5th Early Career Researchers Conference – SIIB2025. The Conference is specifically designed to support early career researchers by providing them with an opportunity to present their scientific work, receive valuable feedback from academic experts, gain insight into academic life, and develop effective publication strategies.
Our Conference is open to submissions in a wide range of topics within the SIIB field, including but not limited to: strategy and strategic management, innovation management and policy, international business and marketing. We encourage both theoretical and empirical submissions across a range of methodological perspectives that offer new insights and contributions to the existing literature.
As an early career researcher, participating in our Conference will provide you with an excellent platform to network with other researchers in your scientific field and gain valuable experience in presenting your study to a professional audience. Additionally, the conference will provide an opportunity for early career researchers to learn about the latest research developments and trends within the SIIB field, as well as to engage in discussions with other scholars on future research directions.

* We would be delighted to have early career researchers to join us in person at our event venue in London to present their research. For those who are based outside of the UK, or for whom attending in person may be a challenge, we may consider an online participation option, though places will be limited. Please also note that access to keynote sessions may be limited with this option.
Conference format: TheConferencewill feature a series of parallelsessions,where early career researchers will have the chance to present their work. In addition to this, two leading scholars in the SIIB field will deliver keynote speeches.The conference will also include two panel discussions,which will focus on such important topics as building a successful career in academia and publishing in leading academic journals. The confirmed speakers include Tim Vorley, Emma Parry, Andy Adcroft, and Muthu de Silva.
Submission guidelines:
We kindly invite you to submit a concise one-page summary of your research, free of any graphs, tables, figures, or references. Please submit your abstract before the deadline via email to: shukhrat.nasirov@manchester.ac.uk. In order to ensure proper organisation, please include your surname, affiliation, and "SIIB2025" in both the subject line and the body of the email (e.g. "SIIB2025, Smith, University of Cambridge").
Please include the following information at the top of your abstract before the body: title, full name, affiliation, current year of study or PhD completion date, email address, and any indication of in-person attendance. Ensure that the abstract follows the format of an academic paper. Abstracts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected. Submission of an abstract grants permission for electronic dissemination by the organisers.

Tim Vorley, OBE
Professor of Innovation and Enterprise

Co-Director of the Innovation and Research Caucus
Tim Vorley is a Professor of Innovation and Enterprise, as well as Pro Vice-Chancellor and the lead for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise within the Vice-Chancellor's Group at Oxford Brooks University.
Prior to his role at Oxford Brookes University, Tim held positions at the Universities of Sheffield and Cambridge, and at the Saïd Business School (University of Oxford). He currently leads the Innovation Caucus, co-funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and Innovate UK, and has previously led several projects funded under the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, Horizon Europe, and ESRC.
Tim is an economic geographer by training and his research focuses on entrepreneurship, enterprise, and regional economic development. He works extensively with a number of central government departments and agencies, as well as with Local Enterprise Partnerships and local government bodies. He is a member of the ESRC Strategic Advisory Network, the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Skills and Talent AdvisoryGroup, and chairs the ESRC's Transforming Business through Social Science advisory group.
Tim is also the Vice-Chair of the Small Business Charter, created by Lord Young, which is leading the delivery of the Help to Grow Management programme through business schools across the UK.
Emma Parry, FBAM

Emma Parry is aProfessor of HumanResourceManagement and Head of the Changing World of Work Group. She is a recognised expert in Human Resource Management (HRM) and plays a leading role in a number of global research projects in this area. These include Cranet, a worldwide network of well over 40 business schools that conducts comparative HRM research, and 5C, a globalresearch project involving around 30 academic institutions, examining cultural and age differences in attitudes towards careers.
Emma's research interests relate to the impact of the changing external context on managing people. In particular, she undertakes research on the influence of technological advancement, age demographics and generational diversity, and national context. Emma has also undertaken a large number of research projects in relation to human capability within the defence sector.
Emma is Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Human Resource Management (IJHRM). She is also the Series Editor for the book series "The Changing Context of Managing People" (Emerald). She is also currently President of the Executive DBA Council, as well as an elected member of the British Academy of Management Council.
Emma is a Fellow of the British Academy of Management, an Honorary Fellow for the Institute for Employment Studies, as well as a Visiting Research Fellow at Westminster Business School. She is also an Academic Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
