Would you like to apply for any of our undergraduate degree courses? It doesn’t matter if it’s still just an idea or if you’ve found your dream course, and want to know how to get a place, Get Started is for you!
Money can be a concern for many prospective students but it shouldn’t have to be a barrier; there is lots of help and support available! Student finance can seem complicated, so we’re here to make the process much more straightforward, with this free, friendly session delivered by Birkbeck’s Student Advice Service. They spend their days helping students to work out their options in relation to fees and finance, and can answer questions and address any concerns you might have.
This free and friendly workshop, Student Finance, will:
- provide an introduction to student loans and financial support available from the government, and how to apply for them
- outline Birkbeck’s bursary packages, available for students who are most in need
- go through the student loans repayment process, including when repayment commences, interest applied and typical proportions of repayment.
The workshop is open to those who are applying for an undergraduate course, and are looking for help and guidance on student finance.
If you have any questions beforehand then please get in touch by emailing getstarted@bbk.ac.uk
There's never been a better time to get your questions answered and take the next step towards your dream course so why not come along and #BBKGetStarted with your university journey!
What is Get Started?
Get Started is a series of free workshops for prospective students from all ages, backgrounds and subject areas, who are interested in embarking on an undergraduate course at Birkbeck.
The Get Started programme consists of three workshops. Prospective students can attend all three or just select the one(s) which are most relevant:
(1) Preparing to study and making an application
(2) Writing a personal statement
(3) Student finance
All three workshops are free, provide a friendly and interactive opportunity to ask questions and are open to all undergraduate applicants. Get Started participants will be eligible to attend a workshop delivered by the Birkbeck Careers and Employability team, to help them develop their employability skills and reflect on the connection between career and study choices. You will receive an invite to sign up to this exclusive offer once you have attended at least one Get Started workshop.
