The Compass Project taster day

When:
Venue: Birkbeck 43 Gordon Square

No booking required

If you have sought sanctuary in the UK, currently have refugee, asylum seeker, DLR or Humanitarian Protection status (or any other forced migrant status) and are looking for some support and guidance on accessing higher education, we welcome you to attend our free taster day at Birkbeck, University of London.

Birkbeck has a proud tradition of changing lives through university study. Our students come from all over the world, with a wide range of educational and professional backgrounds. We particularly encourage and specialise in applications from mature learners, those who may have had a break in their education, of any length, or who have never had the opportunity to study at university level either in the UK or abroad.

During the taster day we will cover the following:

Making informed decisions and finding the right course for you
Birkbeck campus tour
Preparing for university study: what to expect and the skills you need
Speak to current Birkbeck and Compass Project students
Learn about the support available to help you make those next steps
Applying for the Compass Project Fund: Eligibility criteria, application and next steps
Throughout the day, there will be an opportunity to speak to Compass Project recipients, advisors and academics at Birkbeck.

The taster day, is particularly important to attend, for those that are interested in applying for the Compass Project Fund.

You can find more information about the Compass Project Fund here. If you are unable to attend a Taster Day - please contact Naureen Abubacker, to Compass Project coordinator in advance on thecompassproject@bbk.ac.uk.

For those living outside of London: Birkbeck will be able to reimburse up to £20 of your travel costs.

Please contact Naureen Abubacker on thecompassproject@bbk.ac.uk if you have any questions about the day.
