The Department of Politics at Birkbeck and the Population, Environment and Resources (PER) Working Group host a book launch of 'The Human Tide: How Population Shaped the Modern World'. The book traces the ways in which population has driven the big historical events across the globe in the last two hundred years. Written by Paul Morland, an Associate Research Fellow at Birkbeck, University of London, it has been published by John Murray in the UK and will be published in eight overseas countries.
The event will be structured as a panel chaired by Professor Eric Kaufmann (also of Birkbeck). Current panelists are Professor David Coleman, emeritus professor at the University of Oxford and an authority on demography and Geoffrey Hosking, a professor at University College London and an expert in Russia.
