On running "Director's Notes" w/ Catherine Grant
When:
—
Venue:
Birkbeck 43 Gordon Square
No booking required
The evening consists of a 30-45 minute illustrated talk by MarBelle, co-founder and editor-in-chief of Director's Notes, followed by a Q&A with the audience chaired by Professor Catherine Grant.
Since its launch in 2006 Directors Notes has scoured the globe for the very best that independent cinema has to offer, whilst sharing the production stories of those directors willing to reveal the practical steps behind their filmmaking through both written and podcast interviews. Highly eclectic in its tastes, and often ahead of the curve, Directors Notes locates and frames for its audience a very wide variety of contemporary low-budget filmmaking in drama, documentary, music video, animation, fashion and experimental modes.
In his talk, MarBelle will set out the initial impetus behind Directors Notes and the company’s development of its innovative and engaging approach to curation, online journalism and criticism, as well as its important advocacy of independent cinema as well as short filmmaking.
