When:
Venue: Birkbeck 43 Gordon Square

Book your place

The first BEI Breakfast Seminar for the new academic year will take place on 4 November in Birkbeck College, Bloomsbury

During the seminar Professor Almuth McDowall will outline recent research, undertaken in partnership with Parents in Performing Arts, which focused on precarious ways of working and insufficient access to work for people with caring responsibilities. The seminar will be chaired by Dr Rebecca Whiting.

Although this survey focuses on the performing arts sector, the low levels of job security and in particular the difficulties experienced by those who are self employed and have caring responsibilities, have implications and relevance to other sectors in the arts and beyond.

This will be a thought-provoking seminar with relevance for everyone working or interested in the arts as well as researchers and practitioners who look to understand precarious working and how to better support parents through flexible work structures.
