When:

Venue:
Birkbeck Main Building, Malet Street
No booking required
A Halloween special Sci/Film event with a session on animal intelligence and a screening of Alfred Hitchock's, The Birds (1963). Our expert guest will be Professor Alex Kacelnick, from Oxford University. Alex has broad interests in biological thinking about behaviour. He trained as a zoologist in Argentina, later worked in zoology and psychology departments in Oxford, Groningen and Cambridge, until returning to Oxford in 1990 to set up the present Behavioural Ecology Group. Birds and their problem solving skills are one of his favourite research topics. Alex thinks Hitchock's birds are not impressively smart and will show us recordings of true avian genius from his own lab.
