Law On Trial - Black Resistance To British Policing In The Past And Present
When:
—
Venue:
Online
As police racism unsettles Britain's tolerant self-image, there is a history of Black resistance to British policing waiting to be uncovered which details the activism that made movements like Black Lives Matter possible. In this session, we will be responding to Adam's recently published book, the timely Black Resistance to British Policing in order to illustrate how Imperial cultures and policies, as well as colonial war and policing highlight connections between these histories and contemporary racisms.
Law On Trial - Law, Pandemic And Crisis
Law On Trial is the School of Law’s annual week of free, public events around a particular theme.
This year we explore law’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, and how the pandemic has left a lasting effect on various aspects of our society including the Black Lives Matter movement, global concerns with racist policing, climate protests and insurrection in Colombia. Find out more and book your place at the week's events.
