Diaries, Notes & Sketches: Talk and screening by Andres Di Tella.
The live discussion will begin at 6PM GMT here: https://eu.bbcollab.com/guest/0efbd85d39db43c694e7193304ec73eb
We will make the film Private Fiction (2019) available for 24 hours from 16 December, then invite those who register to join us for the talk by Andrés Di Tella, followed by a conversation with Catherine Grant (Birkbeck Honorary Research Fellow) at 18:00 on 17 December.
Diaries, notebooks, sketches, working papers. Provisional, unfinished, circumstantial forms that converge in one of the most vibrant currents of contemporary cinema. Note-taking and the diary conceived not only as a working method but also as an artistic practice in itself. A cinematic language in potential mode. The talk will include the screening of extracts from a work-in-progress by Andrés Di Tella.
Private Fiction (Ficción privada) is the most recent film by Andrés Di Tella, a filmmaker, writer, and curator, based in Buenos Aires. His films include 327 cuadernos (327 Notebooks, 2015), which was shown at Birkbeck’s Essay Film Festival, Fotografías (Photographs, 2007), La televisión y yo (Television and I, 2002), and Montoneros, una historia (Montoneros, a history, 1998). His work spans video art, installations, and performance pieces, as well as TV documentaries.
