New play investigating the link between violence and femininity through history via multiple intertwining stories. In-person.

A driver picks up a hitchhiker on a secluded country road. Two women converse in a prison’s parlour. A storyteller weaves her sardonic tales. Their stories intertwine, charting a path of violence connecting generations of women. Victims and perpetrators, monsters and innocents. Could anyone really remain unsullied?   
 
This play, originally written by Chiara Dadini, is here presented in its current form as a scratch performance directed by Laura Mottola as part of the project’s Research and Development process.   
 
Chiara Dadini is an emerging playwright, dramaturge, and poet. Her work focuses on spatial dramaturgies and explores the way poetry can be interwoven in landscapes and stage pictures. Her previous work as a playwright includes the short work The Sickness of the Land and the site-specific and immersive play Asterion, performed at Canada Water Theatre in 2019. Her work as a dramaturg includes Treasure Hunt (2020), She’s Fine (2019) and Juliet of the Spirits (2018).     
 
Laura Mottola is an actor, writer and film and theatre director. She has cultivated her passion achieving a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre and Performance Practice at London Metropolitan University and a Master’s Degree in Filmmaking, with an emphasis on Directing at Central Film School London.  From 2016 onwards, she has been actively involved in both theatre and film productions, navigating various roles, such as actor, writer, director, stage manager and producer.  Work includes taking part in the 2017 Shakespeare Festival in Gdansk, Poland with a contemporary adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing; the piece She's Fine, performed as part of the 2020 MUTIS Fringe Festival in Barcelona; working as Stage Manager for the Diverse City award-winning show Mid-life, staged at the Barbican Theatre  and The Bristol Old Vic.  In 2021, she debuted as writer-director with the short film Amalia.
