Play conveying fictionalised experiences through characters on a multiracial street, casting a kaleidoscopic lens on survival through violence; prejudice; the struggle for breath: the grip of the COVID-19 virus on our lungs, the importance of oxygen for life. In-person.

breaDth is a fictionalised play co-developed with participants from the Consortium on Practices of Wellbeing and Resilience of BAME families and communities (Co-POWeR) during COVID-19. Through characters on a multiracial street, breaDth conveys shared experiences from Despair to Delight as well as conjuring up hindrances and obstacles in people’s lives by combining real with surreal situations, casting a kaleidoscopic lens on the struggle for breath whether it be in terms of the grip of the COVID-19 virus on our lungs, the importance of oxygen for life, or the struggle to survive in the face of stigmatisation, prejudice, and violence.     
 
Alda Terracciano is a Research Fellow for Co-POWeR and Fellow of the Birkbeck Centre for Contemporary Theatre. She is a visual artist, dramaturg, curator, director, who has worked with diverse communities in Britain and abroad. As director of Aldaterra Projects she has delivered projects that explore cross-cultural identities in Britain and foster the exploration of new and hybrid artistic practices (www.aldaterra.com). Her artworks include Streets of… 7 cities in 7 minutes, a moving image and multisensory installation presented during the London Olympic Games, and Zelige Door on Golborne Road, an immersive multisensory installation presented at Tate Exchange and other national and international venues.      
 
Raminder Kaur is a Co-Investigator and scriptwriter for Co-POWeR. She is also a professor of Anthropology and Cultural Studies in the School of Global Studies at the University of Sussex. She is the author of Kudankulam: The Story of an Indo-Russian Nuclear Power Plant (2020); Atomic Mumbai: Living with the Radiance of a Thousand Suns (2013); and Performative Politics and the Cultures of Hinduism (2003/5). She is also co-author of Adventure Comics and Youth Cultures in India (2018), Diaspora and Hybridity (2005); and co-editor of several other books. Mukul Ahmed completed the prestigious Birkbeck MFA Theatre Directing programme in 2007, and Staff Directed at the National Theatre. . He has since gone on to direct a series of classics, new writing and play readings locally and internationally. Heteaches acting at the LAMDA and is a visiting faculty for Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. He is the Artistic Director of Mukul and Ghetto Tigers and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
