Pataflafla: a Rhythm Workshop for Wellbeing
When:
—
Venue:
Birkbeck 43 Gordon Square
In this drumming workshop, learn the basics of percussion and rhythm, freely express yourself through the beat, and explore the positive effect music and rhythm can have on our mental health and wellbeing. In-person.
Led by experienced drummer, artist and theatre-maker Lucy Yates, you’ll become part of a two-hour drum circle, learning the basics of percussion and rhythm, and allowing you some time to freely express yourself through the beat. All abilities are welcome, from absolute beginner upwards – we’ll all move at the same pace together, exploring the positive effect music and rhythm can have on our mental health and wellbeing.
Lucy Yates is an actor, writer and musician. Her work experiments with the interplay between text and percussion in story-telling. She is a co-founder of award-winning RUNT Theatre and her work has been selected to be part of Pleasance’s Fringe Futures Festival and Tramshed’s Digitally Charged festival.
